About the Project
If you’ve ever been hesitant about using black when designing a kitchen, this sophisticated space might just change your mind. While the walls and most of the cabinetry are painted a crisp “Super White,” it’s the bold black accents that truly command attention.
A custom black hood with brass trim takes center stage, flanked by elegant black mullion glass doors, while the black bases of both the front and rear islands echo the drama and tie seamlessly into the black-framed windows. Luxurious Calacatta Gold quartz countertops—with waterfall edges on the island and full slab backsplashes—bring warmth and refinement, dispelling any notion that black makes a kitchen feel small or dark.
Traditional Cabinetry Meets Contemporary Accents with a Striking Art Deco View
Despite the space’s contemporary edge, the cabinetry leans traditional, with flush inset construction and wide-frame Shaker doors featuring a stepped inner profile. Distractions are minimal thanks to seamlessly paneled appliances, while honey bronze hardware adds a subtle glow. A matte black faucet and instant hot system offer a sleek contrast, grounding the design. The peninsula is a multitasking marvel, housing a microwave drawer, a beverage refrigerator, and a casual seating area with cushioned stools, their awning-striped backs woven in black for a cohesive touch.
But the true showstopper is the view into the dining room, where dramatic black-and-gold Art Deco wallpaper frames the kitchen like a work of art—perfectly centering the black island and brass-trimmed hood in a scene that’s as striking as it is unforgettable.
