With a honed finish, the stone polishing process ends before buffing, leaving a matte or low-gloss sheen that lacks the highly reflective, mirrorlike look of a highly poshed stone surface. The softer honed finish is particularly popular among homeowners wanting a low-sheen or slightly textured finished or an aged aesthetic.

Islands come in a variety of sizes, styles, and materials and often incorporate seating as well as integral storage drawers or cabinets. Custom islands are designed and measured for the space. Sometimes the island will exactly match the kitchen cabinetry, and sometimes it will complement or contrast with the kitchen cabinets.
