About the Project
To create the modern farmhouse aesthetic desired by the client, a variety of materials and finishes are used. Reclaimed wood beams add a rustic element and soften the lines of the tray ceiling. The porcelain tile floor reflects the texture and color of the beams. The surprising inspiration for the room’s color scheme is the old brass and black ceiling fixture, which was retained. The sink, tub, and shower fittings (as well as the frame on the shower enclosure) are black, while the distinctive long-stemmed sconces repeat the brass. Spotlighting the tub and spacious shower is a unique striated chevron marble in gray and tan tones, which tie together the room’s various wood and black elements. The subtly-veined honed Caesarstone countertop and backsplash add understated interest that doesn’t compete with the wall tiles.
The vanity is a wall-hung “floating” installation featuring horizontal rift-cut oak in a custom matte stain. Bronze finger pulls disappear against the finish. Ample storage is supplied by an abundance of drawers, flanked by countertop wall cabinets. Bringing in more farmhouse flair is the trough sink.
This transformation proves that, with a deft hand, styles and materials can be combined to achieve a luxurious, cohesive, yet relaxed look.
