About the Project

This dazzling kitchen proves that contemporary design doesn’t need to be monochromatic white on white. It combines two different species of dark wood veneers, along with stainless steel and glass doors on the wall cabinets in lieu of the ubiquitous white high gloss fashion.  To emphasize the room’s length, the wood grain was oriented horizontally, a detail highlighted by the LED lighting under the island overhang. White quartz countertops contrast the dark finishes, with a dark-stained butcher-block at the range end of the island. “Calacatta Gold” marble tiles complement the white tops.

The cook’s zone features a 30” cabinetry-clad refrigerator column and a 30” pantry flanking the 48” professional range. Lending personality to this area are metallic ceramic backsplash tiles. This hardworking prep area also incorporates a secondary sink across from the range.

The other side of the kitchen is outfitted for entertaining. A paneled freezer column is adjacent to a cabinet housing a microwave steam oven and warming drawer. A tall shallow open cabinet is ideal for storing liquor bottles and actually serves as the side of a tall wine refrigerator around the corner. For even more serving ease, there’s a beverage refrigerator at this end of the island.
