About the Project
Imagine walking into this breathtaking space with a soaring vaulted ceiling, abundant natural light, and 270-degree views of nature. Organic elements include shiplap on the ceiling and two narrow but impactful strips of stone wall flanking the cooktop elevation. The architectural scene-stealer is the gigantic triangular clerestory window extending from 9’ off the ground to the ceiling peak.
Richly textured contemporary styling with a mix of finishes delights the eye at every turn. A combination of high-gloss white lacquer for wall units and horizontal-grained quarter sawn walnut for bases cover most of the cabinetry. The addition of acid-etched glass on the pantries and alumasteel accents (refrigeration fronts, tambour appliance garages, coffeemaker surround and under-counter refrigerator drawers) is an inspired design decision. Their metallic tones echo the stainless steel found throughout: 2” thick countertops on the perimeter; legs and bottom trim on the island; and toe kicks for the entire kitchen. The island countertop features Caesarstone with a unique back-beveled edge detail.
Lighting here is also noteworthy. Two suspended aluminum track frames and bullet-shaped heads illuminate the work and eating areas, but also incorporate decorative fixtures: three clear and frosted glass cylinders over the island; and a drum shade over the table.
