About the Project
Chic sophistication is what you’d expect in a New York City penthouse duplex. Despite its small footprint, this kitchen delivers on all counts.
The first thing you notice is the sleek high-gloss lacquer on the flat panel doors and panels. This, along with the mirror backsplash, effectively doubles the light and impression of spaciousness, and reflects the city skyline on the opposite side of the apartment. To minimize distraction, base cabinets feature channel hardware, wall cabinets have touch latches, and the tall pantries and paneled refrigerator have long stainless pulls. Classic Corian countertops continue the monochromatic theme, with its matte finish acting as counterpoint to all the shine. For seamless continuity, an integrated Corian sink was chosen.
The ovens are Miele’s “Brilliant White” glass finish, installed flush for a clean line. Even the island’s cooktop and integrated stainless trivets are recessed into the counter for a smooth work surface. With space at a premium, the island has a deeper section to accommodate two stools for eat-in convenience.
A glamorous touch is found in the striking pendants. Long glass shades in stripes of clear and frosted glass extend past the lightbulb enclosure, creating the effect of luminous cascades of water.
