About the Project
“Make the interior as majestic as the exterior” was the assigned task for this renovation. Stately coffered ceilings, whose intricate configuration reflects the room’s layout, adds the desired grandeur.
The challenge was a long, narrow kitchen with a family room at one end. For balance, a banquette was tucked into the corner at the opposite end. The seating is flanked by wine/ beverage refrigerators and a shallow buffet server, all connected by a Carrera marble top.
The heart of the space is a generous island housing the sink, dishwasher, trash pullout, microwave drawer, plus additional storage. Stools provide yet another dining option. The range and cabinetry hood are centered on the island, bookended by tall pantry storage and a paneled refrigerator/freezer. Timeless white inset cabinetry with a stepped Shaker door sets a classic tone, while stacked cabinets with glass uppers emphasize the tall ceilings. More Carrera is found on the back countertops and the range’s backsplash. For a furniture look, wainscot panel backsplashes adjoin the range. Jet Mist granite with a leathered finish provides contrast and texture. Enlarging the doorway to the family room better integrates it with the kitchen, with coffers continuing into that space.
