About the Project
Grandeur reigns in this elegant family hub. Classic inset cabinetry sets the tone, while the Farrow and Ball finish complements the adjacent rooms. The dazzling focal point is the massive hood, purchased in London. A concave metallic shroud sits atop a stone shelf and fascia with matching corbels. Mother of pearl knobs with a diamond motif adorn select cabinets, meted out judiciously like jewelry. Speaking to the customer’s eye for detail, the brass lanterns were chosen for how the curved top rails echo the movement of the knobs’ pattern. The pearlescent backsplash tiles were placed on the diagonal in another reference to the knobs. Quartzite countertops add another layer of luxury. For contrast to all the refined materials, some humble elements were employed: a rustic wood pocket door conceals a pantry with matching cabinetry in the corner; another rustic door provides a peek into the adjoining wine closet; and whitewashed oak floors and brushed oak stools also help ground the room.
This gorgeous kitchen is definitely not just for show. It’s outfitted with cutlery and utensil dividers, tray partitions, pullouts, and even a built-in paper towel holder. For the avid baker, there’s even a lift-up for the frequently-used stand mixer.
