About the Project
These new lively interiors belie a typical colonial’s exterior. The homeowners’ modern art collection inspired their playful esthetic for a dated kitchen. Classic “Bilotta Collection” cabinetry sets the tone, while polished stainless and chrome accents in glass doors, corner shelves, custom hood, pendants and pulls provide sparkle. The unique finish utilizes a brushed effect, yielding the subtle texture of hand painting, yet maintaining the durability of factory coatings. Benjamin Moore’s “Super White” graces the perimeter, while their “Wall Street” gray covers the island. Behind the range and hood is a custom-made tempered glass mosaic; “White Diamond” marble accentuates the counters and remaining backsplashes. Lighthearted touches of a feathered chandelier over the tulip table and an iconic Marilyn Monroe Bubblegum print lithograph are cheery additions. For easy entertaining, the peninsula sink and beverage refrigerator face outward toward the table.
Across from the table is a contemporary hutch painted in the island “Wall Street” color, but here executed with a sleek slab door and integrated chrome pulls. The asymmetrical element of varying heights is balanced by polished stainless open shelves that flow from the top trims of the cabinets. These units accommodate linens and tableware, while the countertop provides extra buffet surface.
