The History of Bilotta
For more than a quarter-century, Bilotta Kitchens has created fine designer living spaces to satisfy generation after generation of a discerning clientele. The family-owned and operated company is among the most highly regarded design firms in the country and offers several showrooms throughout the New York region. Their work is abundant in homes throughout the New York tri-state area and in places as far away as Bermuda, Spain, St. Martin, and Trinidad.
The Bilotta family’s story began in 1955 with a millwork shop and residential construction company headed by Jim Bilotta Sr. Since 1985, when they opened the doors of their flagship showroom on Mamaroneck Avenue in Mamaroneck, NY, Bilotta siblings Jim, Maria and Regina have prided themselves on providing unrivaled service and exquisite products while producing innovative, elegant and inspirational designs. As a result, their residential kitchens and baths earn accolades for superior craftsmanship and custom-made materials.
“As children, we delighted in watching our father’s projects develop and showing him pictures of houses we had drawn at the kitchen table,” said Maria Bilotta. “It’s amazing how far we’ve come, but not really a surprise when you consider all our father taught us and the hard work my brother, sister and I have put into becoming a premier designer of custom living spaces.”
Now more than 30 years into the kitchen and bath business, the Bilottas reflect on what has helped keep them going year after year. “In a word: perseverance,” says Jim Bilotta. As with any business there have been ups and downs. After almost losing their headquarter showroom to a hurricane in 2007 and again in 2011, the Bilotta family backed by their dedicated employees (many of whom have been with the company upwards of 10, 15 and 25 years) persevered knowing that something as important as this remarkable business, that they have all helped build, was worth fighting for.
Over the years Bilotta has earned the respect of industry peers and built a name and respectable reputation for themselves in the community. As a company they’ve been selected multiple times as the lead designers for the prestigious Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club Decorator Show House. Their work has been featured in leading trade publications such as Traditional Home, House Beautiful, Elle Décor and Interior Design magazine. They’ve designed kitchens for top chefs such as Daniel Boulud and Emeril Lagasse, and celebrities like Mary Tyler Moore and Susie Essman. They’ve worked side-by-side with some of the industry’s leading architects and interiors designers.
